Five Months

Eloise is 5 months old, and doing lots of exciting things. She just started to babble. She's been talking for a few months, but up until now, it's just been strings of vowel sounds like "aaaaah-eeeeee-ooooh". But now she's discoverd consonants! She just started saying "ah-da-da" and "uh-buh-buh". I'm sure "Mommy" is right around the corner!

She FINALLY likes to be on her tummy. Babies spend a lot of time on their backs since it's the safest way to sleep, so it's important for them to play on their tummies so that they develop neck their neck muscles. We've been putting her down for tummy time ever since she was brand new. At first she hated it and screamed instantly. By about 4 months she tolerated it, but was still not crazy about it. When she learned to roll over she'd instantly roll to her back every time I put her down on her tummy. But now she likes it and will stay on her tummy and play for long stretches of time.

At today's photo shoot I captured some other fun 5 month activities like rolling over...

and last but not least, sitting up!

She's not very steady yet, and she can only last for brief periods of time, but she is definitely getting there. Today she thought she was hot stuff and decided to try it with no hands.

Not too shabby for Eloise!
