She has now discovered both of her hands. Her favorite thing to do is to suck on them (which she does quite noisily!), but her newest trick to to reach out and grab something. The problem is that she is just learning, so her hands aren't steady and her aim is way off. It's so funny - I sit there and hold a small toy in her line of vision and her little hand reaches out and sort of awkwardly bats at it. Every so often she manages to grip it, and then she usually drops it in surprise.
Another thing she loves to do is to hold on to a small soft toy or blanket and rub and suck on it. She has these soft flannel blankets that are just perfect for this, and another favorite is this flat giraffe with a puffy head. She can't reliably get it into her mouth yet (she can't yet aim the smallish parts for her mouth yet so she usually gets a face full of the big head) but when she does, poor Mr. Giraffe ends up a soggy mess.
She's getting better and better by the day with reaching for things. Just today I had her on my lap while I sat at the table and she reached out with a wobbly hand and batted at a notebook in front of me. Now we have to start being aware of what objects are in her reach - I'm just waiting for the day when she starts to rip my glasses off my face!

Those fingers must be pretty tasty.

You're going to have to take her to the zoo to see her favorite animals--the giraffes! :)
